The balance found in Kamelia Pezeshki’s photographs recalibrate our attention to detail. Born
in Iran in 1963 and educated at the University of Utah, today Pezeshki makes her home in the
city of Toronto. The frenetic chaos of Canada’s largest city is conspicuously absent from her work, which focuses instead undermining contemporary photography’s inclination towards digital manipulation through introspective painterly sensibility and traditional, hands-on engagement with the work.

Pezeshki hand prints and frames each print. With quiet persistence, her portraits and composed
still lifes employ a sure visual rhetoric that encourages focus and contemplation on the moments and people so easily bypassed or taken for granted.
